Characters are the heart of every story. Their actions drive the plot. Their individuality is what readers or audiences most remember. It’s a daunting challenge—crafting seemingly real people out of mere words. But if you can create dimensional characters, you’ll be well on your way to writing a story that is believable, compelling, and perhaps even unforgettable.

In this course you’ll discover characterization techniques that you can apply to fiction, nonfiction, screenplays, teleplays, or stage plays. Through lectures, script analysis, and in-class exercises, you will learn how to find characters, flesh them out, make them fascinating, and bring them to vibrant life on the page.
